My name is Theresa, it was in 2017 when I joined MCDC groups; my family was struggling in farming to make ends meet, and we agreed to give it a chance. We started by saving 500 Rwf per week because that's all we could afford.
I later requested a loan of 50,000 Rwf and focused on crop yields, investing in fertilizers and seeds, which gave me some good profits and boosted my journey. I got a profit of 20,000 RWF from that season, and this boosted my confidence and self-esteem, leading me to reinvest in farming and refine our techniques.
My income steadily increased because I diversified our products, ventured into new crops, and expanded the farming activities. As the business grew, my husband joined, and we combined our efforts I took another loan of 150,000 Rwf, which we re-invested in the business and bought some animals for manure.
The loan allowed us to purchase high-quality seeds and expand our livestock, including chickens and goats, and further improved our financial stability where we set up a small boutique within our home. The establishment of a home boutique and the sale of additional products broadened our income streams, with earnings ranging from 300,000 to 350,000 Rwandan Francs.
MCDC transformed our lives, granting us the means to secure a brighter future for our family. With MCDC's support and our determination, we aspire to expand our business, explore new markets, and provide better education and opportunities for our children. Our journey with MCDC has been a path of growth and empowerment, and we are grateful for the opportunities it has offered us.
